Digital SLR Camera Tips For Beginners and Pros
During my career as a photographer, I picked up lots of ideas that would help a newcomer start off on the right foot. The tips I am going to share in this article are my personal suggestions and should not be taken as state of the art truths.
1. The ISO setting is the only highly important technical detail you have to know about your DSLR. When taking pictures in an improperly lit room or outside at night, you can dramatically improve the quality of your shot by increasing the ISO setting. By raising it, the lenses will stay open for a shorter amount of time and the photo will be less influenced by the natural slight movement of hands.
2. When taking a shot in dim light, it’s always best to find something to brace the camera on. Ideally, you should use a tripod, but a table, chair, bar or even a telephone or light pole could do the trick.
3. Don’t get cheap when buying for a tripod. If you are on a low budget, it would be better to wait, save some money and buy a good one. Cheap tripods will break when you need them mostly, shake when the wind is blowing and sometimes not keep your camera at the right angle. You know the saying: you get what you pay for; this is especially true with tripods.
4. The power is in the lenses. I know it sounds like a quote from a Jedi master, but it’s as true as it can be. There is a tremendous difference between the quality of a picture taken with, say, an 135 prime L series lens and the low level stock one that comes with each digital SLR camera. Experiment with a few good ones (I would recommend any Canon L series lens) and choose your preferred one.
5. Buy and learn to use Photoshop. I can’t stress this enough. No matter how great a picture may be, you can always make small adjustments, like alter the contrast, sharpness or color saturations, to make it even better. There are many Photoshop tutorials out there, some of them are even free. And it’s not very expensive, the low end version of Photoshop costs only $75.
As a final tip, don’t forget to have fun! Photography is a great hobby and can be lots of fun. Stay creative. Take lots and lots of photos. Explore. And, again, have fun!
Whether you’re looking for the best Nikon SLR digital camera, the best Canon SLR digital camera, or just the best SLR digital camera of any brand, you’ve come to the right place. Point and shoot cameras were a good teacher, but now it time to get serious with a good SLR. I’m sure this all enticing, but I also know how intimidating those SLR cameras can be.
As Luck Would Have It, your about be transformed into a SLR camera virtuoso. Don’t let your early steps at understanding SLRs send you packing. It can take a few readings to visualize. If your an individual that has to understand all the finer points of any product before making a purchase, this could be a never ending process for you.
Well, let’s get at it shall we. This sounds a little off the wall, but the neat features in these babies, is good for the soul. Stick with me, and I’ll show you the facts. Just ask someone in the business of digital photography, and they’ll tell you how challenging and demanding the market is. Year after year, just to keep pace with other manufactures, camera companies offer consumers significantly better cameras at significantly lower prices.
So, it may seem hard to believe, but all this competition and high technology is about to make you a much happier consumer. Pretty much all the best SLR digital cameras will do the job, and capture good photo images for you. You likely couldn’t find a horrific SLR camera from the top rated cameras even if you wanted to. Any of these cameras are sure to make you happy. I like everything in the Canon Rebel offerings. The Olympus Evolt E620 is nice, and the Nikon D40, is not too shabby either.
You know that getting any of these cameras for between five hundred and a thousand dollars is bound to sure to instill a good feeling in your wallet. Considering all the features in these cameras, it’s well worth the money. Anyone who shelled out a lot of money for an early model digital camera knows what I mean.
It seems many consumers are unaware, that the biggest factor in the character of your photographic images has very little to do with the camera you buy. You and your ability to spot quality photo opportunities are really of greater value when it comes to capturing pretty pictures. You’d be surprised with the dazzling images that come out of the lens of a cheap-o camera in the hands of a creative photographer.
Those looking for hard to find cameras are choosing to buy single lens reflex cameras online it seems. If your looking for plenty of choice, and the lowest available prices, it would seem obvious to purchase digital cameras on the web.
Even with hundreds of SLR camera choices, internet shopping for the best SLR digital camera is easy to do. Time to make a decision. Well, are you going to spend your whole life looking, or just pick one and begin capturing memories?

Here are some guidelines for better pictures using a digital SLR camera:
Simplicity – Remove any clutter from the scene you are shooting. Zoom in to capture the part you want to emphasize.
Rule of thirds – You will find this rule mentioned a lot and it’s a great way to capture a moving object. Just imagine a tic-tac-toe frame and capture the subject from one of the two sides.
Shapes and lines – Move five to ten feet away to the side to capture a straight line at an angle.
Vantage point – Shoot a picture at a lower vantage point. Increasing the height away from the object can reduce its significance.
Balance – However, unbalanced or asymmetrical objects are often more visually stimulating than balanced objects.
Framing – Use the frames of windows to capture an outdoor scene. Use doors and walls of a building to capture a walking person.
Indoor photographs – Natural lighting can produce excellent candid shots instead of the flash, but be sure to use a tripod.
